Pigpog
was a hog.
A little hairy hog.
A little wild pig was he.
He lived in the forest
beneath a bright-berry bush.
Pigpog had a swishy-wishy tail.
Pigpog had two twitchy-witchy ears.
And Pigpog had a pudgy-wudgy nose.
One day, Pigpog asked the stickity mud,
“Please can I scoffle some worms?”
“Of course you can!” said the stickity mud.
“You’re welcome, my friend. Enjoy!”
So Pigpog sniffled and snuffled about
in the slippery-sloppery squelch!
And he slurped up the worms –
the scrummy-yummy worms!
Then he licked his lips
and he rubbed his tum –
and he skipped and danced,
and began to run
home.
But when he got home,
Mama Pigpog was cross!
“You are a disgrace!
You’ve got mud all over your face!
You look like
a Pigpog mud pie!”
Oh! Pigpog’s tail was droopy-droops!
And he went and asked the frogity pond,
“Please can I have a bath?”
“Of course you can!” said the frogity pond.
“You’re welcome, my friend. Enjoy!”
So Pigpog dived right in with a splash!
Then he splished and he sploshed, and he sloshed
and squealed – bobbing with the beetles
and the black-eyed bugs.
Then he flicked his tail
and he shivered his tum –
and he skipped and danced,
and began to run
home.
But when he got home,
Pappa Pigpog was cross!
“What is this here?
You’ve got water-weeds in your ear!
You look like
a Pigpog puddle!”
Oh! Pigpog’s ears were flopsy-flops!
And he went and asked the scrunchity leaves,
“Please can I rub myself dry?”
“Of course you can!” said the scrunchity leaves.
“You’re welcome, our friend. Enjoy!”
So Pigpog laid down and rolled over
in the fresh-fallen leaves of the trees.
And he wiggled and jiggled and joggled
in a warm and sunny soft spot.
Then he shook.
And he stretched.
Then he blinked.
And he gulped!
There were peeples –
He saw!
Hairy peeples –
He saw!
Scary peeples –
He saw!
Yelling peeples –
He heard!
“Look! There’s a Pigpog!
Let’s chase the Pigpog!
Let’s catch the Pigpog!
Go! Go! Go!”
Pigpog’s eyes grew
as big as the skies!
And he squeaked,
“Oh no! The peeples –
I think they want to eat me!”
Up he jumped and off he ran –
through the leaves, poor Pigpog ran.
And the peeples chased
with a flash and a bang!
‘Till they stumbled and tumbled
in the scrunchity leaves.
And there they all prickled
and tickled and itched.
Then the peeples yelled,
“Look! There’s the Pigpog!
Let’s chase the Pigpog!
Let’s catch the Pigpog!
Go! Go! Go!”
Once more he jumped and off he ran –
into the pond, poor Pigpog ran.
And the peeples chased
with a flash and a bang!
‘Till they slipped and they flipped
in the frogity pond.
And there they all sneezed
and spluttered and coughed.
Then the peeples yelled,
“Look! There’s the Pigpog!
Let’s chase the Pigpog!
Let’s catch the Pigpog!
Go! Go! Go!”
Again he jumped and off he ran –
through the mud, poor Pigpog ran.
And the peeples chased
with a flash and a bang!
‘Till they slithered and slid
in the stickity mud –
where the worms were all waiting
to gobble them up!
When Pigpog got home,
Mama Pigpog snorted,
“You look like
a Pigpog mud pie!”
And Pappa Pigpog grunted,
“You look like
A Pigpog puddle!”
Then both of them smiled,
“But you’re home safe and sound!”
And they gave him a hug –
A scrunchity, frogity, stickity –
hog-hug!
